Edmonton’s law librarians learn about LegalAve

In May, ALIS presented the LegalAve website to members of the Edmonton Law Libraries Association (ELLA). Librarians from both the private and public sectors attended the lunchtime event about the new website and learned how they will be able to use this resource to assist their clients seeking family law information.

Features highlighted during the presentation included:
  • an interface that allows simultaneous access to relevant information without overwhelming the user;
  • a guided pathway where users choose responses to important questions so they are pointed to the correct information;
  • unique add-ons such as myths specific to different family law topics; and
  • an entire section for professionals who provide legal information services to the public.

During the question-and-answer session, many participants expressed their support for this new resource.

The Edmonton Law Libraries Association is an active group that meets approximately once a month from September to June. Participation in the association provides people working in Edmonton’s law library field with opportunities for professional development, information sharing, and connection with a local professional network.
