Welcome to our office

We formed our team and moved into our office in July 2014. We are located in downtown Edmonton in the Sun Life Building.

Being able to focus together and share ideas in one central location helps us achieve our goal, which is to provide Albertans a website that uses a step-by-step approach to guide them to existing legal information they need to address their legal concerns. The website will focus on family law information during this first phase of the project.

ALIS’s board and staff take this opportunity to thank Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, Law Libraries for providing us space and office equipment during the planning phase which helps us successfully complete our planning process. During that time, Marsha (then Project Manager and now our Manager Implementation and Partnerships) worked closely with our board to set things in motion, and collaborated with PLEI (public legal education and information) organizations in the province and across Canada to gain insight on best practices about building a PLEI website.

Aftab (our Executive Director) and Marsha worked together to a form a team of professionals and then Vince (our IT Specialist) joined them in early 2014, and together, they set up our office space. They put in a lot of energy and hard work to ensure we had the right tools to efficiently and effectively do our job, and that everything fits into our small office space. From computers and phones to chairs and desks to, and of course, a fridge and a microwave, and all the other important office stuff that we needed.

By mid-July, our team was completed with four more staff members. We’ve all settled in and adapted to the cosy size of our new home.

Stop by and say hello if you are in the area and would like to collaborate with us on our PLEI website project.
