The Alberta Legal Information Society (ALIS) is a non-profit organization that was established in 2012 to build a centralized website where Albertans can find legal information and services in the province.
Mission
Work collaboratively to guide Albertans to the legal information they need
Vision
We believe that legal information is for all and should be readily available and accessible for those who need it
Our objectives are:
- To provide information in a variety of formats
- To work in collaboration with other public legal education and information (PLEI) providers
- To build on existing expertise and experience
- To promote access to justice
- To provide referrals to appropriate providers
There are many organizations in Alberta producing PLEI materials. ALIS seeks to enhance existing legal information resources while avoiding duplication. Service providers have expressed a need for easier access to information and the need to be aware of other organizations’ resources and services around the province in order to provide better referrals, collaborate on projects, and avoid duplication.
This website provides background information about ALIS and its objectives. More importantly, it serves as a medium for communication between ALIS, PLEI providers, the legal community, the public, and anyone interested in this project.
We will continue to post updates about LegalAve on this website, so make sure to check back regularly. To find out more about how you can be involved in this project, contact us at
